Our Story
Twisted Pines Farm and Vineyard started as a dream fueled by a love of wine and opportunities for Chris to learn the aspects of vineyard management from Maryland vignerons and work alongside an established winemaker. With a passion for agriculture and a love of the Shenandoah Valley, that dream began coming to life in 2020 when Chris and Ashley purchased a 40-acre farm in Staunton, Virginia.

Our name is a nod toward Chris' passion for reptiles, in particular the Pine Snake.
We're currently focused on establishing and maintaining both the farm and vineyard, though have future aspirations to incorporate a winery for producing wine from our estate grapes.
Our Farm
Our family has always had a passion for animals. With Ashley's animal science background and a lot of acreage available, it seemed only natural for Twisted Pines to expand our offerings beyond grapes and wine.
In 2021, we began establishing our herd of Highland Cattle and flock of Sebastopol geese. Both breeds of cattle and geese were selected for their unique physical features and docile nature. In addition to our breeding animals, our farm is home to a menagerie of beloved companions ranging in size from pocket pets to horses.
Our Vineyard
With an average elevation of 1800 feet, we have initially designated 10 acres of land with a north-eastward-facing slope for our vineyard. Our initial 5500 vines were planted in 2021, with an additional 1100 vines planted in 2022.

We currently grow two red and two white varietals:

-
Malbec
-
Dornfelder
-
Gewürztraminer
-
Reisling
